FierceMarkets Updates Publication Line-Up for Improved Market Coverage
WASHINGTON, DC – September 30. Beginning on October 7, several titles within FierceMarkets’ portfolio of telecom publications, including FierceMobileContent, FierceBroadbandWireless, FierceCable, and FierceIPTV, will be refreshed with enhanced editorial coverage.
“The Telecom industry is constantly changing and our readers demand best-in-class news coverage that evolves along with it,” said Jason Nelson, Group Publisher for the Telecom Group at FierceMarkets. “When FierceMarkets started re-inventing industry journalism through email a decade ago, it took news announcements weeks to travel through the industry. We helped shorten that to days. Now, the news cycle is measured in minutes as readers check websites, social media, and get our breaking news email alerts. We think our latest changes will help improve the velocity of the news flow in these key markets and keep all of our subscribers plugged in to the fastest-moving parts of their business.”
The first change to the portfolio will come from the merger of the weekly newsletter, FierceIPTV, and the daily title, FierceCable, into a single daily publication covering the shared demands of PayTV networks. The new title will retain the FierceCable brand, reflecting the topography of modern networks. “Focusing our editorial efforts on one single publication means all subscribers can benefit from the in-depth news coverage and analysis they previously needed to read two publications to gain,” Nelson said.
The second change to the portfolio involves the rebranding of the current FierceBroadbandWireless title into FierceWirelessTech, a name that better reflects its technical news coverage. “Almost all wireless is ‘broadband’ now,” Nelson said. “We live in an age where we carry yesterday’s supercomputers in our pockets connected by 4G technology. It is time that the moniker of this publication more accurately reflects the depth of coverage our editors have already been creating.”
FierceWirelessTech will continue to be published twice a week and will take an analytical look at the advancements in technology for network engineers and hardware designers with an emphasis on news from innovation labs, standards, and academic breakthroughs.
The final change to the portfolio involves the merger of FierceMobileContent with FierceMobileIT, with a focus on both enterprise app development as well as deployment. This repositioning reflects the impact mobile apps are having on how businesses operate.
According to Nelson, “Mobile content for the consumer has almost fully penetrated the market; however, businesses are just starting to figure out the power mobile apps have to alter their revenue models. Enterprises and SMBs alike are just now using mobile apps to push data down to front-line employees, interact with customers away from the register, and make inventory processes more efficient. Our subscribers are demanding to read more about this.”
The enhanced positioning of these publications will also benefit advertisers, who will be able to continue to target all segments of the subscribers to each publication.
“We look forward to delivering these improvements to our readers” Nelson said. “Though the industry continues to change, we think that this will continue to make Fierce publications the first place our readers turn for industry news, now and in the future.”
