FierceMarkets Telecom Group Finishes Q1 Strong
WASHINGTON, DC - April 22, 2009 - FierceMarkets' (http://www.fiercemarkets.com) telecom group ended Q1 with a strong presence at several of the industry's major tradeshows. Record attendance at events, breaking news coverage, and an increase in Web traffic marked success for the B2B publisher at a time when the telecom industry is beginning to feel the effects of a down economy.
Fierce reported unprecedented success with its in-person events, show-specific coverage, pre and post-show Webinars, as well as break-out numbers in Web traffic and an increase in audience interaction.
CTIA Wireless 2009, in particular, was an exceptionally strong show for Fierce. FierceWireless, the telecom group's flagship publication, returned as the official on-line show daily publication; editors hosted multiple events—two executive breakfasts, a networking event that drew a record crowd of more than 1500 attendees, and a 4G conference in partnership with CTIA that drew standing room only crowds; the editorial group also published a preview issue and post-show Webinar that generated more than 600 attendees.
"During the first quarter, we've been fortunate to have successes across the board. Page views are up, we're seeing record attendance at our events, and we're continuing to grow in an uncertain economy," said Jason Nelson, Telecom Group Publisher. "We are serving our advertisers with a comprehensive product line-up and continuing to deliver quality leads and high-end audience interaction."
Nelson credits a lot of the group's success to the strength of the editorial talent writing for the group. Recently, the group further expanded its ranks by hiring Mike Dano, formerly of RCR Wireless. Dano joins Fierce as the Managing Editor of the Wireless Group where he will oversee Web sites and special editorial features. Dano joins a team of editorial powerhouses including Sue Marek, Editor-in-Chief of the wireless group of publications, Doug Mohney Editor-in-Chief of the wireline group of publications. Veteran reporters Lynnette Luna, Jason Ankeny, and Dan O'Shea continue to contribute to a number of publications.
"We're putting out strong editorial—we've had breakout coverage of a number of key news stories, including the CWD strikes an exclusive interview with Verizon during Mobile World Congress. Our audience is responding. We're really firing on all cylinders right now," said Nelson.
