Kerry C. Gumas - President and Chief Executive Officer, Newton, MA
Kerry led the founding of Questex, serving as its President & CEO since inception. In 2008 he led the acquisition of FierceMarkets, which has become the focal point for Questex’s digital media development, innovation and growth. Kerry provides overall strategic leadership and direction to the company’s senior leadership team and has led the remarkable growth and transformation of Questex to a technology-enabled business event, information and marketing platform. Under his leadership the company drives business investment, innovation and demand creation in the markets it serves by bringing together investors, buyers, sellers and professionals through its over 50 trade shows, conferences and other business events, informing them through more than 100 business media and information products and supporting clients with a comprehensive platform of marketing solutions. Prior to founding Questex, Kerry held senior executive positions at IDG, Advanstar (UBMAdvanstar), and Reed Exhibitions in the U.S., Europe and Asia. He began his career as an trade specialist at the U.S. Department of Commerce responsible for China trade promotion activities and continues to be a strong advocate for international trade and investment. He is a board member of industry associations, including the Connectiv division of SIIA and is a past president and board member of SISO and SACEOS. Kerry earned a BA in Political Science from Widener University.
Steve Kurtz - Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer, Washington, D.C.
Steve is Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of Questex where he oversees digital strategy, product development and technology operations. Mr. Kurtz has over 25 years of experience in technology. Prior to joining Questex, Mr. Kurtz served as Vice President of Product Development at Gannett/USA TODAY where he was responsible for all mobile and web product development. Prior to USA TODAY, Mr. Kurtz served as President and CEO of CavaSoft, Inc., a software consultancy specializing in hospitality and government technology solutions. Mr. Kurtz holds a bachelors’ degree in Computer Information Systems from James Madison University.
Jack Fordi - Senior Vice President and Group Publisher, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Washington, DC
Jack is responsible for the expansion of the sales department’s infrastructure, driving revenue growth, and improving the overall quality of service delivered to B2B marketers in Fierce’s targeted industry verticals. He also oversees the Healthcare and Life Sciences Publishers and their respective revenue and editorial teams. He brings more than 15 years of executive sales/business development leadership experience in both traditional and interactive media.
Fordi spent seven years as Vice President of Sales and Sales Ops for SmartBrief, Inc., an online media firm providing vertical news services to 3 million+ individual business readers with 1200+ advertisers. Prior to SmartBrief, he served as Sales Director with a division of Gannett Co., Inc. Previously, he was Vice President of Sales with Intralinks in New York City, a technology provider of inter-enterprise collaboration solutions serving investment banks and the fortune 500. He began his career with Phillips Business Information, (now Access Intelligence).
Jack earned a BS in Business Administration and Economics from Elon University. He lives in DC with his wife and two small children.
Matt Kavney - Vice President, Business Development, Washington, D.C.
Matt Kavney is responsible for leading the strategic sales effort for programs that span the Questex network of FierceMarkets-branded and other industry-specific digital media assets. Matt leads the development of client solutions for corporate and institutional clients and agencies, working closely with the product development team and industry-specific account teams. Matt previously served as Vice President, Strategic Accounts at SmartBrief, a leading digital business-to-business media company, for 13 years, managing the strategic accounts team responsible for cultivating relationships with business-to-business brands and their respective agencies. Before SmartBrief, he spent four years at a digital media buying agency focused on negotiating and managing large, demand-based, media partnerships for Network Solutions.
Auseh Britt, Vice President, Marketing & Client Services, Washington, D.C.
Auseh Britt has over 15 years of marketing experience in a variety of industries including media and publishing, information services, consumer goods, and hospitality. As the VP, Marketing and Client Services, she leads audience development, content marketing, and corporate marketing initiatives. Prior to joining Questex (Fierce Markets), she was Director, Online Marketing at Bloomberg BNA, leading the company’s digital marketing strategy with a focus on website marketing, email marketing, content marketing, marketing automation, search marketing (SEM and SEO), online advertising and multimedia production. She has extensive experience in demand generation, lead nurturing, and sales enablement.
Auseh has a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida and a MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. She is also adjunct faculty at Georgetown University, teaching in the Master of Professional Studies in Public Relations & Corporate Communications program.
Rebecca Willumson - Publisher, Life Sciences
Rebecca Willumson is the publisher of FierceMarkets' Life Sciences publications overseeing the editorial, operations and sales functions of the group. She joined the Life Sciences group in 2012 as associate publisher with a specific focus on the pharma industry. Since joining the group, she has contributed to expanding the team's news coverage into the global market with the launch of FiercePharmaAsia and FierceBiotechEurope. She has also brought on new editors and overseen streamlining of the operational processes of the group. Prior to joining the Life Sciences group, Rebecca led FierceMarkets' ad operations department as the head of the marketing solutions team from 2010-2012. Specializing in operations and logistics, Rebecca brings 8+ years of media experience to the Life Sciences group.
Rebecca earned a BBA in Marketing from James Madison University. She is a rower and coxswain and lives in Washington, DC.
Heather Martin - Publisher, Marketing & Retail
Heather Martin is a skilled strategic communications and marketing professional with more than 15 years of experience in marketing communications, public relations, event planning, project management, and online media, with a focus on B2B markets. Since joining the company in 2005, Heather has led the expansion of Fierce’s events business, developed new products across multiple vertical markets, and run the company’s custom content group.
In January 2013, Heather became Publisher of the newly launched Marketing & Retail group. She also acts as Senior Associate Publisher of the Telecom & Energy groups. Prior to joining Fierce, Heather worked at several agencies and consulting firms managing live events and building strategic communications campaigns for clients in both the private and public sectors.
Heather received a BA in Environmental Studies and Sociology from St. Lawrence University. She lives in Washington, DC and is a runner, foodie, and travel photography junkie. You can find her on Twitter @fierceheather.
Jamil White - Group Controller
Jamil White is the Division Controller of the FierceMarkets division of Questex where he oversees the accounting department. In his capacity as Division Controller, his primary focus is on monitoring financial performance, overseeing revenue recognition and expense management, budget preparation, delivering and interpreting financial results to operations and sales teams, and process and control implementation.
For over ten years, Jamil has produced high quality work in the assurance, and corporate accounting fields. White has spent over half of his career in different management capacities, specifically, general ledger and financial reporting. Prior to FierceMarkets, he started his career at Ernst & Young as a financial statement auditor specializing in banking and real estate clients, and he gained media experience while working as a lead accountant in the production finance department of Black Entertainment Television (BET). Additionally, Jamil maintains significant experience in energy accounting having supervised the general ledger group for a publicly traded local utility.
Jamil holds a BS degree in Accounting from Morgan State University. Additionally, he has successfully completed the Uniform CPA Examination and is awaiting licensure with the Virginia State Board of Accountancy. In his spare time, Jamil enjoys public speaking and working with youth groups.
