Jeff Giesea - President


Jeff founded FierceMarkets in April 2000 with the launch of our first publication, FierceWireless. Previously, he worked in strategic planning for Enews (later acquired by Barnes & Noble) and helped manage a hedge fund in Menlo Park, California. Jeff was recently named a "Top Innovator in Business Publishing" by Media Business Magazine. He is a graduate of Stanford.

Sean Griffey - Chief Operating Officer


Sean leads FierceMarkets' finance, IT, and shared services operations, and also serves as publisher of our Biotech Group of brands. Since joining the company in March 2005, he has improved our financial reporting and analytics infrastructure, pioneered several important pieces of proprietary technology, and helped professionalize our sales, audience development, and event operations.

Sean joined FierceMarkets after working nearly ten years as a strategic consultant for A.T. Kearney and PricewaterhouseCoopers. In this role, he participated in a broad spectrum of strategy, operations, and M&A engagements for senior executive clients in the telecommunications, financial services, industrial, and media & entertainment sectors. Sean received a B.S. in Economics from Penn State University and an M.B.A. from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management.

Maurice Bakley - VP, Web Business


Maurice drives the growth of FierceMarkets' web and webinar product lines. Since joining FierceMarkets in March 2007, he has led the relaunch of our 16 publication web sites and expanded our growing webinar program. In addition, he recently assumed oversight of the FierceMarkets "farm team" of brands in the finance, IT and healthcare verticals.

Before joining FierceMarkets, Maurice served as VP, Internet Publishing, for PostNewsweek Tech Media, a wholly owned subsidiary of the The Washington Post Company dedicated to the government technology market. In this role, he led the company's Internet business growth through the creation of new products and strategic management of ad operations, business development, technology and content. Prior to his time with PostNewsweek, Maurice spent 6 years in Europe working in B2B media and coordinating the successful launch of Poland's first Standard & Poor's-rated mutual fund, Skarbiec Kasa.

Maurice earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in International Relations and German from Tufts University. He is self-taught to fluency in Polish, German and French.

Jason Nelson - VP, Sales & Business Development


Jason oversees FierceMarkets' sales organization and helps foster key client relationships and industry partnerships. Since joining the company in December 2001, he has pioneered our successful selling system, built our ten-person sales team from the ground up, and helped develop several of our most successful brands and revenue sources.

Prior to joining FierceMarkets, Jason sold IT solutions for CDW and recruited college marketing teams for VarsityBooks.com. He began his career at a radio station in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he developed innovative marketing solutions for advertisers.

A graduate of Grand Valley State University with a B.S. in Marketing, Jason is active in his local alumni association and plays on a Congressional softball league team.

Heather Cox - Director, PR & Events


Heather Cox brings more than eight years of strategic communications experience to the FierceMarkets team. Since joining the company in February 2005, she has lead the expansion of our events business while also managing our PR efforts.

Previously, Heather was with the DC office of Porter Novelli, a global PR and communications firm, where she worked on a number of high-profile healthcare and pharmaceutical accounts. Prior to that, she spent a number of years working with both private and public sector clients planning events and building strategic communications campaigns. She received a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Sociology from St. Lawrence University.
